The VP Debate and Women’s Empowerment

It is 11:35 p.m. and I am watching the re-airing of the Vice Presidential Debate on CSPAN.  While the initial debate was airing tonight, I was supporting the the Daughters of Isis at a Women’s Empowerment Conference in Cypress Hill.

In my opinion, the men running our country are only consumed with war and money, while this system railroads the core of the family unit, women. Women make this machine called America possible.  The current Republican candidates have made it clear that they will cut funding to Planned Parenthood, and have stood strong in their pro-life positions. I was also informed that the NY legislature did not give enough votes to pass bill #A10080 – an act to amend the family court act, in relation to the basis for removal of children, also known as “Melinda’s Law”.  This bill would allow for abused spouses, like Melinda, the opportunity to keep their children under their guardianship and report their abusive spouses without the threat of losing the children to CPS.  We must stand strong together against chauvinistic agendas in order to ensure the well-being of our nation.  Just a month or so ago, Paul Ryan was quoted on his belief that “rape is another method of contraception”.    As a woman, I have no choice but to support the democratic ticket.

If you missed the debate and would like to be informed, you can follow all 2012 election activity by tuning into CSPAN.
